If you are currently a council or housing association tenant, the Right to Buy scheme can empower you to purchase your own home. This government-backed initiative offers an attractive discount on the market value of your property, making homeownership more affordable and accessible.

Discount Offer

Under the Right to Buy scheme, you can benefit from a significant discount on the market value of your home. The discount amounts are as follows:

  • Applications received on or after 6 April 2018: Up to £108,000 (£80,900 outside London).
  • Applications received before 6 April 2018: Up to £104,900 (£78,600 outside London).

Qualifying Criteria

To be eligible for the Right to Buy scheme, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • You must have been a council or housing association tenant for a minimum of three years.
  • Time spent as a secure tenant with another council or housing association can be taken into consideration.
  • If you have had up to three family members living with you for at least 12 months, they can join your Right to Buy application.
